About

I’m Joanna,

The maker behind Hot & Boring.

This is a slow fashion project focused on sustainability, care, and storytelling through textiles.

Each bag is made by hand from reclaimed clothing, up cycled fabrics, vintage or dead-stock materials. It’s a direct response to the waste and overproduction that defines fast fashion.

I’ve been a secondary art teacher for over 13 years, grew up in North London and worked in schools in central before moving out of my home city. My creative practice has always run alongside my teaching, and Hot & Boring grew gradually from a personal project into something bigger.

Every bag is made in my free time, slowly and with intention. I create one-of-a-kind pieces and I also work on commissions, either from garments that hold personal meaning or in collaboration with customers to source fabrics they love. The best way to explore this is to visit my custom create page.

You can find my work on the Loom app, at markets in London, Birmingham, Coventry, and Bristol. Upcoming markets, drops, exclusive discounts and collaborations are announced via my newsletter, so be sure to sign up below if you’d like to hear about them first.

Thank you for being part of this.
